The Design Process

Project Needs Analysis aka Design Consultation

During this initial meeting, we will meet at your home or project site to discuss all of your project needs and wants as well as your likes and dislikes. This will help me determine the scope, priority list and contract type for your project. This meeting also gives us a chance to get to know each other before committing to work together.

Design Agreement and Retainer

Once we have determined the scope and contract type suitable for your project, I will create a design agreement for the work to be done. Once I have a signed copy of the agreement and check for the retainer, work can begin!

Site Documentation

The first step to creating any great design is to document everything. I will take measurements of each space outlined in the contract scope, including window dimensions, existing furniture dimensions, outlet, switch and vent locations, etc. I will also take photographs needed for reference while developing your design. You don’t need to be home for this appointment. Feel free to give me a key or garage code and let me get to work.

Design Development and Sourcing

Now that we have thoroughly discussed your project and I have all of the site documentation needed, I will go about creating a design that lets your personality shine through! This will include creating and compiling all of the inspiration images, drawings, product samples, fabrics, etc. needed to communicate my design.

Presentation

We will meet again at your home or job site to go over the plan together, including all drawings, samples and a proposal for selections to get your approval. If revisions need to be made, another presentation meeting will be set up to go over the revised design. I won’t move forward with ordering until I have your final approval.

Ordering

Once you have signed the proposal and paid the deposit, I will place all of the orders with my various vendors, coordinate the creation of any custom furnishings and schedule the shipments with my receiving warehouse.

Project Management

I will manage any subcontractors needed to complete your project to make certain that the design is carried out correctly, taking that stress off of your to-do list.

Delivery and Installation

Whenever possible, delivery and installation of every piece of the final design are scheduled to take place on the same day. I will work with my receiving warehouse, delivery crew and installers to completely transform your space. This is another step in the process in which you do not need to be present. It will be more fun for you to come home after the installation is complete to experience that ‘big reveal’ moment!
